It's time for a change: Should I see a coach or a counsellor?

Coaching and counselling are two approaches that aim to support individuals in achieving personal growth and development. Although there are similarities between these two practices, they differ in their goals, methods, and outcomes.

In contrast, counselling is more past-oriented and focused on helping individuals deal with emotional or psychological challenges such as anxiety, depression, or trauma.


Both coaching and counselling can incorporate mindfulness techniques to help individuals stay present, focused, and centred. By practicing mindfulness, individuals can learn to manage their emotions and thoughts more effectively, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve their overall well-being.


Ultimately, the choice between coaching and counselling will depend on an individual's specific needs and goals. If an individual is looking to improve their performance in a specific area or achieve a particular goal, coaching may be the best approach. If they are struggling with emotional or psychological challenges, counselling may be more appropriate. Regardless of the approach, incorporating mindfulness techniques into the practice can be beneficial for achieving personal growth and development.
